what next..

Crawling sorted, now he is onto the standing practice. He loves standing next to this box as well as climbing on to it. There was a falling off of box photo (head first) but it seemed a little mean to take a pic of it and not cuddle him! A few falls onto his head over the past few days. He tried to climb/balance on the floor to ceiling windows in the shop yesterday but did not factor in how slippery windows can be! The dog food and water bowl are no longer safe either...

Lachie went for his first swim yesterday. No tears so thats a success to me! No pictures though as it was Neve, Lachie and me. Not enough arms these days. Poor chutney is not safe on his bed anymore. The baby is fascinated by the puppy!

Its been a busy few weeks for Lachie. He has tried some real food and is loving it. One of his bottom teeth has poked through the skin and the other one is visible and will do so soonish I expect. He is also commando crawling and a reasonable speed too! Just put a balloon in front of him and he will chase it a long way. Persistent little guy! Some pics of this stuff and also from our recent trip to raglan.

Lachie likes to hold a cuddly in his hands when he goes to sleep. We mostly find it over his face when checking on him. Probably against all the rules for how a baby should sleep, but he is sleeping which is a good thing!


And the cot became the playpen yesterday.

5 month stats

Lachie was weighed and measured last week and is doing well. He weighed in at 5.92kg and was 63 cm long (N was 5.5kg and 64cm). Lots of rolling across the room which I had not really expected just yet. Means I better vacuum more often under places I wouldnt normally... Lots of jolly jumper action too.

Lachie got chicken pox about 16 days after Neve's spots first showed up. He only got a very mild case and could get them again sometime... Not too much itching and just a few scabs left now. His latest trick is poking his tongue out when someone does it to him.

It was "B" day at daycare last week and the kids got to dress up as something starting with B. Neve thought going as a box was hilarious!

Lachie figured out how to roll from his back to his front in the past few days. At first I thought Neve was playing a trick as he would only be on his tummy after I had walked out of the room, but I have since watched him roll over several times while I was in the room!

chicken pox

We have spent the past week or so inside as Neve had chicken pox. Not too much itching from her and she thought it was great to spend 5 days in her PJs. Getting her dressed on the 6th day was a challenge. So far Lachie is spot free. He enjoyed having her around for entertainment. He likes being on his tummy and without a nappy on he can get his knees up under his bottom - he still has to figure out to use his arms at the same time as he spends a lot of time faceplanting the rug at the moment (lets hope he doesnt do that too much when he is snowboarding...)

the millkman moved to wellington..

We think these two are related. The top pic is Lachie and the bottom one is Neve at about the same age. At the 3 month mark, there is only 300g difference between them. L is catching up fast and doing well. Lots of smiles, chats and figuring out that he has hands. Very useful things for teasing big sister later in life.

bathtime

The bucket bath is still around and Lachie loves being in it. Glenn is braver than me and will let him go for a short time.
